Our minibus is literally on its last wheels after 12 years of excellent use. We’re now desperate for a wheelchair-accessible minibus, which could cost in excess of £40,000. Without it we are extremely limited for where we can take our young people.
See our video of what a new accessible minibus would mean to some of our young people and a little bit about some of their favourite trips and outings!
We would once again like to give a huge thank you to Simpatico Digital for supporting a local charity by offering to film and edit this small promotional video for us!

Why we are launching our campaign:
Over the last 30 years Fairplay has supported many thousands of children and young people with disabilities, as well as helping them gain employability skills and providing them with unique experiences through trips and outings using the accessible Minibuses we have at our centre.
We have around 450 children and young people all having either a learning, sensory or physical disability for whom our centre in Chesterfield is a lifeline a safe place where they are cared for, make new friends and build on their interests.
Supporting them in gaining employability skills, those with complex health needs receive one-to-one care from trained staff. All while providing them with unique experiences through trips and outings using our Minibuses.
Unfortunately, our largest wheelchair-accessible Minibus is on its last wheels, after being with us for 12 years. It has countless issues which restrict us from using it and makes it hard to take our children and young people on trips or outings. We’re desperate for a wheelchair-accessible minibus, which could cost in excess of £40,000!
Not only does this mean that they are missing out on new experiences, but that they are also missing out on sharing these experiences with their friends.
Trips out are among the things that Chris, 24, loves about his daily visits to Fairplay, “I like being with my friends and Fairplay is making me become independent.” Tony, one of our co-ordinators, said that without a reliable minibus, outings to nearby attractions are limited to Chesterfield town centre or Queen’s Park, “It’s that minibus that will take the young people on little outings”.
